Our Story

Our story is rooted in three characters: Nekesa, Nelima, and Nafula - who confront the challenges of period poverty, period shame, and limited access to sexual and reproductive health education.

Nekesa

A bright and ambitious school-going girl, dreams of becoming a business leader. However, her aspirations are hindered by period poverty. Without proper menstrual health products, Nekesa misses several school days each month, impacting her education and self-esteem. She feels isolated and ashamed, unable to participate fully in her classes and activities.

Nelima

Is a teenage mother who faced societal judgment and had to drop out of school after becoming pregnant. With limited support and resources, she struggles to care for her child and herself. Her dreams of education and a better future seem to slip away each day, compounded by a lack of access to essential sexual and reproductive health education.

Nafula

A high school student, is eager to learn and grow but has limited knowledge about menstrual and sexual health. She often feels confused and anxious about her body, with no reliable sources of information. Her community is steeped in stigma and taboo, making it difficult for her to seek answers and support.

The Wezesha Binti Foundation seeks to change this narrative. Imagine a world where every menstruator, regardless of their circumstances, can manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence. This vision drives our mission, reflecting in the lives of Nekesa, Nelima, and Nafula.

Nekesa, with dreams as big as the sky, no longer misses school due to a lack of menstrual health products. With renewed confidence, she walks into her classroom ready to learn and lead. Nelima, once burdened by societal judgment, now thrives with the skills and support to build a future for herself and her child. She dreams of education and success, knowing that she is not alone in her journey. Nafula, once confused and anxious about her body, now stands as a beacon of knowledge and support in her community, breaking down the walls of stigma and taboo.

Our purpose is to create these transformative stories. Through sustainable menstrual health products, comprehensive education, and economic empowerment, we work tirelessly to eliminate period poverty, combat stigma, and empower menstruators. In doing so, we ensure that every menstruator can pursue their dreams, make informed decisions about their health, and build a brighter future for themselves and their community.

This is the story of Wezesha Binti Foundation - a story of hope, resilience, and empowerment.
